Valencia is a planned community located in Los Angeles County, California.  Valencia is in the northwestern corner of the Santa Clarita Valley.  It was one of four unincorporated communities that merged to create the city of Santa Clarita, California.  Money magazine ranked Santa Clarita one of the top 100 places to live.   Santa Clarita has been nameed by he FBI as the nation's six safest city with over 100,000 inhabitants making Valencia the safest city in Los Angeles County.

Valencia is a well planned, intelligently balanced new town that truly offers something for everyone.  Spectacular residential neighborhoods are brought together with all the ingredients for an outstanding quality of life.  Valencia offers excellent schools, places of worship, convenient shopping,  childcare centers, local and regional parks, and neighborhood recreation centers.  Residents can find outstanding health care at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and a number of additional health care providers.  The community is also home to Valencia Gateway, the largest center for business and technology in Los Angeles County.

Valencia was first planned in the 1960s by the Newhall Land and Farming Company.  Development began in the 1960s and continues to present day.   The boulevards are well-landscaped and  connect a great mix of single-family homes, apartment buildings, shopping centers, industrial and office parks.

Valencia's residential areas are separated into villages.  Each village is different from each other, in the ways of lifestyle.  Almost all of Valencia's villages are close to schools, shopping, and more.  In many of the villages, homeowners associations oversee the quality and upkeep of housing developments ranging in size from a few dozen homes to over a thousand.  Many villages also have a neighborhood watch program in force.

The paseos are a favorite community feature for many Valencia residents.  Adults jog or stroll along these quiet pathways from early morning until late at night.  All the paseos, except in nature preserves, are well-lit.  Children can skateboard, rollerblade and bicycleaway from traffic in safety.  The paseos host a vireity of events such as run-a-thons, walk-a-thons and bike-a-thon, which bring residents together and help local organizations raise funds.  

Valencia is served by the Castaic Union Elementary School District and Newhall Elementary School District.  Valencia residents take well-deserved pride in their public schools. Standardized test scores place the majority of area schools in the top 10 percent in California.  Most local elementary, junior and senior high schools have earned the distinction of California Distinguished schools and several have received National Blue Ribbon honors as well.  Valencia is also home to College of the Canyons, a two-year state community college and the acclaimed California Institute of the Arts, which is a fine arts university and  Disney-endowed.

There's so much to do in Valencia, families can stay active while staying close to home.  In fact, fun options like neighborhood recreation centers with pools, spas, tennis and sport courts, barbeque's and more have been specifically designed, and beautiful parks and open spaces protected, as part of Valencia's master plan.  The Paseo Club, a full service, limited-membership tennis and swim facility is opening in the summer of 2007.  The Paseo Club will offer numerous first class fitness, social and children's programs and activities.  Valencia is a great place to play!

Valencia is home to the Tournament Players Club at Valencia, California's first and only PGA Tour facility.   The Clubhouse offers great dining and entertaining opportunities as well.  Golf has been an important part of Valencia since the community's earliest days and one enjoyed by golfers at all playing levels.  The community is home to a Valencia Country Club that was designed by Robert Trent Jones. The SBC Champions Tour along with the Vista Valencia Golf Course, call Valencia home; both located along Interstate 5.

Valencia is also home to Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park and Hurricane Harbor water park.  Valencia is the birthplace of John Garland, a major league baseball.  Garland is now playing for the Chicago White Sox.  The Power Ranger show was filmed in  Valencia  for 8 seasons from 1993-2001.
